Astrologically, Mars is the planet of physical energy, willpower, passion, strength, courage, and action. Mars reacts—much like the many volcanoes on its surface. Mars is also considered a malefic planet in astrology, meaning it can sometimes have an unfavorable influence.

The tarot card that most resembles the Aries/Mars energy is undeniably The Emperor. He sits on his throne unwavering. Two ram heads are seen in the back corners of his chair. He holds a scepter in his right hand. He represents power and establishment. He is royalty. He is a leader of the people. The Emperor encourages us to let go of what doesn’t serve us.

Aries is said to be compatible with other fire signs—Leo and Sagittarius—and air signs, such as Gemini, Libra, and Aquarius. However, this is based solely on sun sign compatibility.
